TV Interview

2010-01-24

Last December, Société Radio-Canada (the French CBC channel) interviewed one of our members, Luc Saucier, on working as a calligrapher. The interview can also be found online, and we are happy to share the link with our readers.  (The interview is in French only, and Mac users may need to install a plugin.)

Operina Alphabet

2010-01-17

We have found on the internet a facsimile of an Operina instruction book, a version of the Italic script developed by Ludovico Vicento degli Arrighi ain the 16th Century. An English translation was added under each page.  This is a wonderful historic reference book. The website also offers other books on calligraphy to download.

Reminder: this Thursday, January 21, is the next general meeting. The 2010 greeting cards will be exhibited during the meeting.

We also added a new page on the website, where our members can offer their services for calligraphy contracts (in the Who We Are section).

Winter 2010 Activities

2010-01-10

Welcome back to all of you, may the year be filled with awesome projects!

We have posted the lists of workshops and activities for the Winter 2010 session. Activities for the upcoming general meetings have also been announced.

BBC News has published a very cool photo of a calligraphy competition in Tokyo, Japan: hundreds of calligraphers crouching on the floor over brushes and paper.
