General meeting and elections

Our last meeting of the year is soon upon us, and with it the annual elections. We need members to take over some positions and replace those who are leaving the board. Now is the time for those who wish to help out and lend a hand to La Société des calligraphes de Montréal.

Some views of the many hands at work creating quick layout/calligraphy ideas at our March meeting’s Calli-Improv event. Our three themes were Stormy, Serenity and Joy!

Now is the time to renew your annual membership. All details are on the membership form.

Like last year, do it before April 30 and you could win a year membership to the Letter Arts Review magazine.

The draw will be made during the General Meeting in May.

Calli-Impro

Back by popular demand at our March 21st meeting: Calli–Impro with a new twist! Saskia and Lorna will lead us through three inspiring calligraphy improvisations. Bring your pens, etc. and be prepared to get creative! Ink and paper supplied. Don’t miss this fun event!

Meetings of the Société des calligraphes de Montréal will be held on the third Thursday of every second month, from September until May. Subjects pertinent to the Society are discussed and members are invited to participate in a calligraphic activity all of which makes for an interesting evening. The meeting of the Société is this Thursday, Jan 24, 7:30 pm, at Monkland Community Center, 4410 West Hill Avenue.

Don’t forget to bring your greeting card, if you haven’t posted it already, and your bookmark that you’ll have put in an anonymous closed white envelope, for the exchange.

Le latest Arabesque will also be distributed.

Here is the list of activities and courses related to calligraphy for the 2013 Winter session by the Société des calligraphes de Montréal and its members. As you may have noticed when looking at the workshop schedule and list of activities, there is a wide variety offered to you.

Greeting Cards Activity

As tradition warrants, there will be a greeting card activity during our first general meeting to be held next January 24. You will find the necessary information here. We are hoping for a large number of participants to make this activity both interesting and stimulating.

Don’t forget that we will also do a bookmark exchange, like we did last year. Create your bookmark, put it in a white enveloppe making sure we don’t see the bookmark through it, then seal the enveloppe and bring it with you to the meeting, giving it when you arrive.
